Mark Fryer	General	A Scale Test Car does what its name implies, that is it is used to test and to therefore correctly calibrate railroad scales. The scales are used to weigh loaded cars for the purposes of determining the amount of load being carried so that the client can be correctly billed and also to prevent overloading which is detrimental to car and track safety, performance and longevity.	6/14/2010 6:27:55 AM

Mark Fryer	General	You will note that on the sill to the left of the locker cupboard is the printed WT 100000 which means that the car has been calibrated at a certified weigh station [often a Federal or State run facility as they are responsible for Weights and Measures used for commerce.] and once the car is brought to the correct weight then tamper evident seals are attatched along with time/date and responsible officer details. The Test car is then sent around to check the calibration of all the scales in the [in this case Illinois Central] system as well as any private scales that adjoin the system and also require calibration.	6/14/2010 6:43:20 AM
